    About the Presenter:

    Mary Beth Coburn is partner with the law firm of Best Best & Krieger. Ms. Coburn is also a California licensed professional civil engineer with over a decade of experience in design and construction of public facilities.  In the twenty years she has been practicing public infrastructure law, she has routinely advised public agencies on all aspects of public contracting, from project master planning through project close out, including claim and dispute resolution.

    Description of the Workshop:

    This workshop will update the participants on the latest trends and best practices in public works contracting including recent changes in the laws governing public contracting and consultant procurement. Ms. Coburn will also discuss public procurement challenges in the aftermath of natural disasters.   Attendees will gain an understanding of the types of contracting procedures that should  be in place prior to, during and after a natural disaster hits, such as ensuring that federally-compliant emergency procurement procedures have been established.
